Taylor Swift at NIB Stadium, Perth

I'm a fan of Taylor Swift's music. Yes, that's right, I don't mind me a bit of T-Swizzle. Some of her songs may not always reflect how I think and feel about love/pain, but there are so many great songs with equally as great lyrics.

Being a fan of Taylor, I've already been to one of her concerts here in Perth. However, with her new Red Tour underway in Australia (named so after the title of her newest album Red), I couldn't say no because I thoroughly enjoyed the album. The concert was held out at NIB Stadium along Pier Street in the East Perth region. I've driven past the stadium before but have never stepped foot inside, so this was a first for me.

Some other new firsts for the day included seeing Neon Trees and Guy Sebastian perform. They were Taylor's pre-show performances, and they were absolutely amazing. Great on-stage performances and really talented and unique voices. I particularly liked the fact that the drummer for Neon Trees was a woman, with a rock chick exterior, but an unexpectedly sweet voice.

The oh so quirky lead singer of Neon Tress

The Taylor show itself was amazing. It was so theatrical, with pretty much every special effect you could think of. There were sparks, smoke, small scale fireworks and confetti with cute little love heart shaped confetti too. The stages moved up and down and rotated 360 degrees. There were about 20 backup dancers/performers who were incredibly talented. They did ballet, walked on stilts, were suspended from the roof while playing drums. Just amazing. The costumes and outfit changes were also incredible. Everyone of stage looked fantastic for every song.

You can't see it too well in this photo, but there are people playing drums as they are pulled up and down from a wire.

I can just imagine how much money would have been put into putting on such a memorable concert, but it was all well worth the cost of the tickets. We were situated in the pit area and so we got a great view of the stage, the dancers and the incredible Miss Swift herself.

I've been to so many concerts this year, and I'm happy to end my ticket buying binge with Taylor. There's no way to compare her to the other shows I've been to see because she's a different artist from the others and sings with a different style and genre. It really is like comparing apples and oranges. But none the less, I enjoyed the show and I'm so glad that I went to see her for a second time :)

Alicia Keys and John Legend

Ruth and I have been waiting for today for a long time. We bought tickets to see Alicia Keys and John Legend in concert at the Perth Arena a few months back, and we've been eagerly counting down to our chance to see these two amazing singers bare their hearts and souls through their music and lyrics.

John Legend was the starting act for Alicia Key's Girl On Fire show, and I can say without a doubt that she chose an amazing artist to start the night off. John was amazing. His voice is like the smoothest sound to ever hit your ears. He is an amazing voice and an equally amazing performer. He worked the crowd and was not afraid to show off his dance moves and instrumental genius.

I was already a big John Legend fan, so to hear all my favourites being sung made my excitement levels sky rocket through the roof. If you haven't already given your ears the pleasure of listening to John Legend, I suggest you start today and go out and get his albums. That dreamy voice of his will take you somewhere you wish you'd never have to leave.

Now, if you thought I was a big John Legend fan, don't even get me started on how much I love Alicia Keys. I have loved her everything for as long as I can remember. Her voice, her music, her beauty, her curves and booty, and even her acting too! She's an incredible artist and an incredible woman. Her words and songs empower me so much and I love what a great role model she is. Ruth and I were talking about how she just stays so true to herself and her music and never really gives into the negativity of the media.

All this love that I have for her, was multiplied a thousand-fold tonight at the concert. It was amazing!!!! I was on this massive high the whole night. She was just incredible. I was so happy because she played so many of my favourite songs.

What I loved about the concert was that it didn't have to be visually extravagant and spectacular in order for it to be good. It was her talent that really carried the show. From start to end, she just poured out her heart to the crowd. There was even this tough looking guy sitting in front of us who cried during two of her songs. Making a grown man cry. Now, that's a woman with power :P

The Alicia Keys concert will forever be one of my favourites :)

I loved her performance of her song No One. She got everyone to lift up their phones. The arena was filled with all the phone lights and it was such a beautiful sight :)

The Mrs Carter Show

Today was one of the best experiences of my life so far! I went to The Mrs Carter Show and we got pretty close to the Queen!! She's so beautiful, so perfect, so amazing, so talented, so ghetto, so empowering, so sexy, so everything! What an amazing female artist. She is by far my favourite.

I remember singing to Beyonce songs in the car with my friends during our final year of our undergraduate degree, and it was only earlier this year that my close friends and I decided that we were going to do everything it takes to see Beyonce if she ever did a concert in Perth (or Australia for that matter). By some crazy miracle, a few weeks after having this discussion, Queen B announced her Australia tour! The timing was impeccable!

We got the tickets in July and we have been counting down to this day since then. My friend Louise and her sister were amazing and volunteered to wait in line from 11am in the morning! You see, we were lucky enough to get gold standing tickets to Bey's second Perth show. We were so determined to get up close to the stage, and if that meant camping out in line, then so be it. Unfortunately I had work, so I couldn't line up early, but it worked out really well in the end anyways.

When I arrived that evening, people were so nice and let me cut the line in order to join Louise and her sister. When the rest of our crew came, people didn't mind them cutting in either. I was not expecting that at all! I guess we were just lucky, because usually people hate it when you cut in line. Don't get me wrong, I felt really guilty for doing it, but we really wanted to all be together.

When we eventually got into the Perth Arena, we managed to get about 4 metres away from the main stage! There was the stage, then about a metre gap where all the security staff stood, then a gate, then about 3 people, then me! Honestly, we were close enough to see all the details of her costume and makeup.

Beyonce did not disappoint. She blew the roof off tonight! I can't even articulate how amazing she was. Not just her, but the whole show itself! The backup dancers, the musicians, the lighting, the video clips that played while she did her costume change, the special effects, just everything! I could not find a single fault in the performance tonight; not that I was looking for any.

Everything about my Beyonce concert experience was so memorable. Now that I've got a taste for her amazing shows, I must see more! I just want to follow her around the world and be in the mosh pit for all her shows.

I will see her live in concert again. I'll make sure of it.

Just a few shots of the night. I wish everyone could have been there to see how amazing the show was. These pictures don't do it justice!

Queen Bey just casually flying through the sky :P

And of course we needed to get Beyonce shirts :)
